An exciting new quest awaits Bluey fans

Bluey’s creator tells us about the pup’s latest adventures.

Oh, biscuits! Bluey’s imaginary world is in peril and Dad, aka King Goldie Horns, has taken off with the very gold pen that can save it! As the spirited Bluey, along with your side-pup Bingoose, you must embark on an epic quest across distant lands to retrieve your golden prize.

Along the journey you must complete lively challenges and puzzles that encourage exploration, imagination and – most importantly – loads of fun!

An authentic Bluey adventure

Bluey’s Quest for The Gold Pen is the collaboration between the beloved TV show’s creator, Joe Brumm, BBC Studios and the developers of Fruit Ninja, Halfbrick Studios, in partnership with Ludo Studio. Brumm brings his trademark humour to the adorable cut scenes of the Heeler family, which are sprinkled between levels.

When my kids were growing up, they always wanted the gold pen. They were obsessed; it was this precious, expensive pen.

The loveable Heeler crew are all here, but Brumm has a real soft spot for Dad. “He’s got a character that I rarely get to write into an episode,” says Brumm. He’s playing a maniacal Midas-style, gold-obsessed king who’s nicked the pen, but there’s no malice in it.”

In a way, the story was inspired by Brumm’s personal experience. “When my kids were growing up, they always wanted the gold pen. They were obsessed; it was this precious, expensive pen.”

Fun for the whole family

While in pursuit of the mighty King Goldie Horns you must tackle a series of trifficult challenges in each level – such as deftly jumping across moving platforms or shifting giant golden boulders with your magic wand. It’s not vital to scoop up all the available collectables to complete the level, but there’s so much delight to be had exploring off the beaten track. You don’t want to miss Mum’s adorable Gnomes who suggest more fun side-quests!

10 out of 10 for that spin, woo hoo!

Bluey’s Quest is designed for those aged 7 and up, but there is something in there for Bluey fans of all ages. “There’s a lot of genuine delight to be had exploring the world and engaging with the simpler tasks,“ says Shainiel Deo, CEO of Halfbrick Studios.

Play rewards patience, timing and, most of all, curiosity. In The Cliffs level for instance, don’t always assume you’re at a dead end. Alternating between your jetpack and glider will take your exploration to new heights – and reveal hidden areas where more playful challenges await!

Chilli’s beautiful hand-drawn worlds

We love the hand-drawn art style, an ode to Bluey’s Escape and Dragon episodes, where Chilli (Mum) is the talented artist. In these more imaginative episodes, you’re no longer limited by what’s possible in the real world. “You can be in any vehicle, you can fly – it’s pure imagination,” Brumm explains.

Guiding Bluey is simple with intuitive touchscreen controls.

And fly you will! You’ll have a blast shooting Bluey upwards with her ultra-cool Jetpack, or gliding across The Forest. Our favourite way to glide is via a pair of pink ice skates in the wondrous Snowlands level. The pirouette as you jump and the occasional face-plant on landing are a real joy!

Brumm’s wishes for young adventurers? “I hope they feel like they’re in an episode of Bluey,” he says. “I want them to laugh like when you’re watching an episode of the show. This is just about making kids laugh.”

Bluey’s Quest for The Gold Pen is free to download and experience, with a single in-app payment to dive into all nine levels. Your time to step into Bluey’s imagination starts now!
