Hi everyone,

Every time I apply for educational benefits, it prompts as shown in the picture: 'You must configure your browser and operating system to allow location access. You may not use a VPN. If you believe that our information about your school is incomplete or incorrect, then please select the' My selected school has incorrect or incomplete information, e.g. domains or campus location 'option when submitting a GitHub Education support ticket.' However, I am currently in school and have not turned on VPN. I have applied many times already, what should I do

2. Avoid VPNs or proxies
   Even if you’re not actively using a VPN, some browsers/extensions or network setups (like campus firewalls) may trigger this warning. Try switching to a different network or disabling extensions temporarily.

3. Submit a support ticket manually
   Since the automated system keeps rejecting you, you should submit a GitHub Education support ticket with the following option selected:
   → “My selected school has incorrect or incomplete information (e.g. domains or campus location)”
   Include:
   • A valid student ID or enrollment proof
   • A short explanation that you’re not using a VPN and have location access enabled
   • A screenshot of the error message (like the one you posted)

Hi @FSWei,

Make sure to enable geolocation on both your OS and browser, as you need to share your location to submit the application and don't use a VPN. In Windows settings, also make sure to enable "Allow apps to access your location."

You can also try submitting the application from your phone.
