You can try the following steps, which usually force Copilot to refresh the available models in VS Code when a newly released one (like opus-4.5) doesn’t appear in the dropdown:

1. Update the Copilot extension manually

Go to Extensions → GitHub Copilot Chat and make sure you're on the latest version. Sometimes VS Code doesn’t auto-update the Copilot extensions immediately.

2. Clear Copilot’s cached configuration

Open the Command Palette and run:
“Developer: Reload Window”
If the model still doesn’t show up, run:
“Developer: Toggle Developer Tools” → Application → Clear Storage → Clear Site Data,
then reload VS Code again.
This forces Copilot to re-fetch the model list from GitHub.

3. Sign out and back into GitHub

From the Accounts menu, fully sign out of GitHub, restart VS Code, then sign in again.
This refreshes your authentication token and permissions, which sometimes block new model access.

4. Disable “Use Latest Model” (if enabled)

In some cases, when this setting is active, Copilot doesn’t display alternative models in the dropdown.
You can check it under:
Settings → Features → GitHub Copilot → Advanced → Use Latest Model.

5. Check the model list from the Copilot CLI

If you have the GitHub CLI installed, you can run:

gh copilot models list

This command confirms whether the model is available on your account, even if VS Code doesn't show it.

If none of the above works, it's likely that opus-4.5 is still rolling out gradually, and your VS Code client isn’t included in the rollout yet — but the steps above typically resolve most cases where the model is available but not appearing in the UI.

That A/B experiment has been completed, and you should now see Opus 4.5 again.
