I am a developer from China who has been unable to update and publish to the repository recently. I have completed the verification of 2fa and Two Factor Authentication, but still cannot use it. The key is that I cannot investigate the reason, so I am not sure if it is due to political and geographical reasons. I know this problem is very troublesome for ordinary people. GitHub does not restrict account access or repository publishing based on political views or nationality. If you have already completed 2FA and you still cannot push or update your repository, the issue is almost always related to one of the following:

1. Authentication method (token vs. password)
2. Missing or expired Personal Access Token
3. SSH key not being recognized
4. Regional network connectivity or firewall issues
5. Rate limits or security blocks triggered automatically

A few quick checks you can try:

• Make sure you are using a Personal Access Token (Fine-Grained or Classic) — GitHub no longer accepts account passwords for Git operations.
• If you use SSH, try ssh -T [email protected] to confirm that your key is working.
• Try pushing using a VPN or different network to rule out regional connectivity issues.
• Confirm that your token has the correct permissions (repo read/write).
• Try pushing from GitHub Desktop to see if the error is different.
