Github projects boards should have "author" as a auto populated field like "assignees" is for listed issues

Just as the title indicates. Author is often a field we manually create and populate with a text field, yet this information is already a part of each issue & could be automatically surfaced.

This is a great point, and that information is indeed crucial for managing projects.

The good news is that this functionality already exists in the new GitHub Projects. It seems you might be trying to create a new custom text field called "Author", which requires manual input.

Instead, you can add the built-in "Author" field which auto-populates this information from the issue or pull request.

Here is how to add it:

1. On your project board (in Table view), click the + icon on the far-right of the column headers.
2. A dropdown menu will appear. Look for "Author" in the list of available fields (it might be under "Hidden fields").
3. Simply click "Author" to add it as a column to your view.

This field will automatically display the profile of the person who created the item, just like the "Assignees" or "Labels" fields do. No manual entry is needed.

There are a large number of discussions about wanting Author as a project column dating back as far as 2021. How is is still not implemented? Is there some technical reason that this is not a straightforward addition?
